Brittney Grimes is a writer, poet, editor, projects manager, violinist, motivational speaker and published author. She published her first book when she was eight years old. She made her first television appearance on the world-famous Apollo Theater, winning first place for the amateur category. She has spoken on CNN Person of the Day, Good Morning America, UPN, NBC and Nickelodeon. In 2002, she spoke at the McDonalds Gospelfest, an annual gospel music and talent festival. She recited a poem she wrote and won first place in the first ever Gospel Poetry Category contest. Along with being a speaker, she also enjoys blogging, writing poetry and books. As a writer, she’s received the National Organization for Women (NOW) "Young Achiever's Award", the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE) Award in Excellence, the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Award for Achievement, the Zora Neale Hurston Literary Award and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award. In 2005, her name was placed on the Wall of Tolerance in Montgomery, Alabama, in honor of Rosa Parks' National Campaign for Tolerance. In 2007, she won Seventeen Magazine and Avon Make Your Mark Contest, where they chose one young lady from the country changing the world through her work. In 2013, she was featured in Long Island Woman. Her work has also appeared in numerous publications such as Ebony Magazine and Time Magazine. She received letters from President Biden, former President Obama, former President Bush, former President Clinton, the late Coretta Scott King, former Senator Fuschillo and former Congressman Rangel for her literary work. She started out her career as an intern for Condé Nast. Currently, she’s working on her next book, blogging and is a writer and editor.
